Tatonka

Started this bison in a basic watercolor wash. I was hating the direction, and almost ripped if odd my watercolor board. But letting go allowed me to have fun and play with colors and new pens. I mean I had nothing to lose.

The final painting was nothing like what I thought it would be, and that’s a good thing. I had fun in the journey with the paints, the bison, the structure. The destination was fun and amazing.

Tatonka

Started a very different watercolor, and many times I was ready to rip it off the board as it was not working. Its when I give up sometimes that the real image appears. Now I love this Bison. Tried new tools, let myself enjoy the process and not the final destination.

Bear Sketch

Trying to loosen up my style. Created an abstract pour in acrylics and added the bear sketch. Simple but fun.

Buffalo Tryptic

Love the plains with the mountains in the background of Montana. A fun series that I wanted to try on wood panels.

12 x 12: acrylic

These sold pretty fast and Im so excited they found a new home!

Christmas Parrot

I am honored to be asked to do a painting for a friend. My girlfriends daughter is an animal lover. This was a christmas gift which thankfully she loved!

Abstract Buffalo

Working on 12 x 12” Pine boards to try a new approach to painting.

The landscape works as a perfect backdrop for the buffalo silhouettes.

Moose Beginnings

Living in Montana I am blown away by the caliber of artists in our area. Nancy Cawdrey is an artist I really admire. (Cawdreygallery.com) So I wanted to try a more bold approach to my paintings. Less blending and more brush strokes. This is the very beginning. I will post a progression of the painting as I move forward.

Bull Mooses Munch, 30 x 40” Progression of a Moose

World Raven

Being concerned about the change in our world, and the climate change affecting nature, I painted this to make a statement. How the raven is so incredibly smart and may be one of the species to survive the evils of humans. To hopefully make us more aware that we need to Nurture Nature, before it is gone.

Interest

Moving to Montana allowed me to relive my childhood in the Sierra Mountains near Soda Springs, CA. Wanting to start a new series of iconic images that represent the beauty and wildlife that is only found here.

Starting with the mountains, birds and the wildflowers that cover the trails in spring and summer near Whitefish. Such as Bear Grass, wild flowers, the amazing night skies have captured my heart.

These two painting are oil on Canvas. 24 x 48” that now in our home.

I am researching another set of iconic images to show another aspect of Montana. Maybe a winter setting, fall leaves and larch trees. Any ideas let me know.
